Lymph node status is a major prognostic factor in renal cancer after radical nephrectomy. However, currently most accurate diagnostic tool for lymph node invasion, lymph node dissection (LND), does not routinely belong to the surgical management of renal cancer. This is due to its lack of evidence of therapeutic efficacy.
